I keep forgetting some times that Missouri is closer to the sun than northern Illinois was. At full sun, no wind-the sun was sooo hot already early this morning, and checking it's only in the low 60's F now. I did get a few hours of weed pulling a bit ago and I planted my new bee balm.
I do not have access to close by nurseries here at the lake. The Walmart plants are not all that great especially for buying perennials.
I bought a midnight oil bee balm that has lovely flowers on Etsy-it was horrible and died the next day-I did get my money back but not the shipping cost. So I found a nursery online and bought one there. Very impressed and came with excellent instructions that I was not familiar with. Here is a photo of it I found online This last purchase came in a quart size pot, so the plant was better established. That is what I will do going forward.
I decided to plant in that large copper pot I have. It will get full sun there too and should be deep and wide enough to handle the plant as it grows.
I also bought another variety off of Ebay. These were small but healthy except for one. The two are looking pretty good now I also planted them in one of the big tubs to grow into.
Happy with myself I did get all that mint dug out as I didn't see any while I was pulling weeds. Late afternoon I will get back outdoors to pull weeds and set up the area for the ornamental grasses or start cutting grass.
We have been eating our main meal at 2 pm since retirement-I like that so much better than eating a full meal in the evenings. I made cupcakes yesterday to go with the fresh strawberries I found at the store-with a little scoop of ice cream on top A fun treat Smiles. For something different today I am going to make us spaghetti and meatballs I always make our meals from scratch but sometimes I can't think of something different haha. I don't make this very often. I will need to be careful not to eat too much of the tomato based sauce.
I ended up only eating the meat balls with no sauce. I saved some of them out for me so they would be plain and just ate some veggies with it for me. When I opened up the organic marinara sauce I could smell the garlic a huge no no for acid reflux issues. I had never baked meatballs before-wow sooo much easier. I ended up using ground bison for these-so delicious. here is the recipe I went by for the meatballs
While eating I got the delivery for my lavender plant from the same place. This one will get quite large with a strong lavender scent. Loving that This one was called summer serenade. Here is a photo from online
and here is a link where I bought my last two plants They have sales going on now as well.
Hoping your weather is lovely as well
You've been busy! Years ago I discovered how easy it was to bake meatballs instead of fry them.
ReplyDeleteand they come out so much better too

DeleteI like to eat meatballs without sauce on some occasions. I mix it up from spaghetti sauce, sweet and sour, Swedish meatball or albóndigas ( Mexican meatballs) Gee now I'm getting hungry to meatballs.
ReplyDeleteI take it, Blogger is done messing with you.
