Amaryllis Blooms

 Happy Mid-Week.

This morning  have blooms on the amaryllis bulb. I am thinking now that the bulb with the two offshoots was the original bulb, and this one that is blooming now was the first off shoot. The blooms are smaller as this is a young bulb. I have kept these indoors do to the very cool nights we have been having

In the middle of the night I had gotten woken up around 3 in the morning-do to very strong winds and lots of rain. Lasted about an hour.  So today is chilly and rainy.

I did get shopping done yesterday morning. I needed a few things and mostly 8 of those very large garden soil bags. I can't even pick these up any more-so those will stay in my car until our workers return for projects.  The plan was to begin the mowing today-so that is getting put off for a non rainy day and the grass can get dried out again. It is on my mind as the grass is growing and growing.

The orioles are still here so am really enjoying seeing them-and we have one pair of hummingbirds-a start smiles.

 Happy md-week

    1. I have always enjoyed them-they can't handle a frost, once it warms up to stay I keep them outdoors til early september and bring them indoors before a frost or freeze. Place the whole pot in the dark-I keep them in the basement-and let them go dormant til spring and then their cycle begins again

  6. Your amaryllis is beautiful Kathy. I really need to get a bulb next Christmas time when they are for sale since I feel very left out of the amaryllis club online. Smile. and I know what you mean about those big bags. The hubby tractored mine over to where I need them. but I'm still going to have to lift them up to fill the pots and raised beds. I hope you don't have to wait too long for the yard helpers to come move them. And send some more rain my way, please. hugs-Erika

    1. Sometimes I find the amaryllis bulbs around Easter too We have had so much rain here lately along with strong storms-I hope some of this rain gets to you too Once it warms up-I may just need to slide these down the hills if I can manage them out of my car. Right now too wet in the garden areas. I bought a really nice bee balm plant online-I will be planting it soon-warmer tomorrow with sun and no rain hugs

  8. Oh congratulations ! Getting an amaryllis to bloom is almost like having a baby isn't it...lol So happy for you! Mine have been refusing to rebloom... Out of the six i had i've lost 2 ... I just do not have a good set up here.. Thinking of putting the ones i have left outside for the Summer... i don't think they get enough light in the house.. i'll have to think best place.. We had a chilly rain this morning and a little thunder... just enough to make the grass and weeds grow like crazy...
Littlest GrandLittle sleepover tonight... and Eldest over the weekend... Love how much they love it... sometimes you wish they'd never grow up... Just sealed your envelope... i think it will need extra postage so need to take it to the postoffice :) Hugs! deb

    1. Awesome you should be getting a slow mail from me this week. Once it gets warmer I keep the bulbs in their pots all summer long-and bring them in to die back and go dormant til the following year. I keep them in the basement-so they are in the dark mostly. I have managed them this way for years and years. I am hoping that one that has two off shoot bulbs now will flower next year hugs

  11. Your blooms are lovely, Kathy, and more so that you have successfully rebloomed them after storing them.
