Good morning,
We are warming up this week-into the 70-'s-Wow kinda crazy but that's this area of Missouri some years.
While enjoying lots of Olympics I finished stitching up the second dragonfly piece late yesterday afternoon.
After I hand washed it last night to remove the pattern lines-this morning the lines on the very outside of the pattern did not wash out. The fabric also shrunk a bit even in just warm water so one edge has very little fabric left for the seam. I am especially not happy that the outside lines are still there. Will think about what to do-probably need to embroidery stitch on those lines. It needs a good press but will need to figure out those lines first-thinking this must have been a linen-cotton blend fabric. After washed I do like the results of the pattern though.
My last painting when I finished up that pad for practice painting-I really liked, so I decided to place into a frame. It found a spot on the mantel
That's it from me today

You painted a beautiful picture.
ReplyDeleteWell done, dear Kathy.

DeleteWhat a bummer .... about the shrinkage and pattern lines... after all that work i'd be really bummed... I hope you can figure out something you like :) After i woodburn the skateboard i'm working on i need to put a stain on it... lots of room there for trouble after alot of work... I love your painting... i find paintings and drawings look so different when you frame them... Yours turned out beautiful my friend! Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteGood morning I was thinking that too-a frame steps the painting up a bit, and I really liked this one. I haven't gotten back to painting since the olympics have been on.
DeleteGood luck finishing up your wood burned piece Hugs
You can send that warm weather here please. Foggy here this morning. Your painting looks good. Janice
ReplyDeleteI wish could share some of this warmer weather with you hugs the temps are really up and down a couple days of really warm then it crashes for a day or two hard on the sinus's
DeleteI can really feel your mix of frustration and satisfaction here! 😅
ReplyDeleteIt’s so relatable — the little surprises that come with hand-washing delicate fabrics, like stubborn pattern lines and unexpected shrinkage. Still, it’s great that you’re already thinking creatively about a solution, like embroidery stitching over those outside lines. That shows such patience and dedication!
And the fact that you like the results of the pattern after washing? That’s a win right there. Sometimes those tiny imperfections just add character, and your thoughtful approach will definitely make this project shine. 🌟
Good morning thank you so much for your kind comments. I am hoping to finish the pillow today
DeleteOh I'm so sorry about the shrinkage. However, your painting is exceptional.
ReplyDeleteThank you-hugs
DeleteYou always keep busy with stitching and painting.
ReplyDeleteCathy
Yes we are stuck indoors so I am back to my crafts
DeleteWell, you found bad and good! Hope the shrinkage problem gets solved too! Hugs to you and the lake
ReplyDeleteGood morning thank you
DeleteOh bummer! I bet you were disappointed. Embroidering around might solve the problem.
ReplyDeleteI'm watching the Olympics too.Have you seen the snowboarding? They are true acrobats!
Sorry for the late comment. I was so busy yesterday, I forgot to link my blog and didn't realise until late at night. better late than never.
Belated Happy T-Day,
Lisca
Lovely work. Keep painting!

I love your painting. Framing it makes it a perfect piece to enjoy and to give you inspiration. Shrinking cloth can sometimes makes it even more beautiful. I think you will enjoy it.
