How are you fairing with this major storm coming through? I know the east coast has not gotten it yet-but from the news reporting it's been a rough one for us states that have gotten it so far..
The temperatures are pretty severe here in the Ozarks, wind and a little snow today maybe a couple inches. We are supposed to get a lot of snow tonight and tomorrow before it moves on. Wouldn't mind at all if we didn't get that-smiles.
Stay safe and warm those of you in the path
I have seen photos on Facebook with bare shelves in the grocery stores-glad I went early when I did.
Yikes, sounds intense. We’ve been lucky so far, just the usual cold, but seeing those empty shelves makes me nervous. How are you holding up with all that snow and wind? I love the photo and the coziness of the family.
ReplyDeleteGood morning-I am sooo thankful-we did not get more snow-but we have gotten drifted pretty bad-we live on lake in the ozarks Missouri and we have steep steps and a hill to climb to get out of the house--good exercise usually haha It is too cold and windy here today so I won't be shoveling-hoping tomorrow I can do that as I have a package coming in the mail The arctic cold will be here most of the week-I am so thankful we did not get the ice like many have
DeleteWe stocked up ourselves the other night just in case. Snowing right now here. Stay safe. Janice
ReplyDeleteWe had warm up day before this storm arrived so I stocked up on perishables then so we're good. I was raised by a farm girl Mom so I have always put food away for the winter since my early years when I was out of the house always preserved lots of foods etc. Now I just always stock up Hope your area doesn't get the ice hugs
DeleteWe've just been very cold but no real ice or much snow. I think we get an inch or two today but it will be too dry to ice over.
ReplyDeleteIce is the worst for sure this storm has the ice coming if first-so glad we missed that. we also were in the area to get lots of snow last night and today-but I think the strong winds moved that out of our area. still extreme cold though so can't get out to shovel a path to the top
DeleteThe snowstorm in Toronto has started -Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteGood morning this is such a wide spread storm-stay safe and warm hugs
DeleteWell that's good to hear. The news hypes up so much when it comes to weather. I always thought you all had bad winter storms from all the movies I've watched throughout the years, gave me that impression. In reality, the winters don't seem that bad only that when you do get a winter storm, it's a blizzard. We get a snow storm once every 5/6 years and we are over due.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to always have emergency food on hand as well as a stockpile of canned foods. We're not preppers but we do have enough emergency food to last about a month. Sure it's all dehydrated foods but it will sustain us. Just part of earthquake readiness.
Hang in there - Spring will eventually come! 🌷🌷🌷
I have the same mindset I always keep food in the house. when I was younger I canned, froze, dehydrated food from our garden we raised our own meat, eggs etc-we moved to the lake in our mid 70's and no garden area here-which is first for me--I do the same with canned foods and dehydrated foods too. I don't buy meats or fish in the local stores anymore I buy from farmers now
Deletethe last time we had weather this severe was when we first retired to our woods home over 20 years ago-so we were do for one
I am enjoying seeing the white stuff from my condo window. The city has plowed the main road, and eventually a company hired by the association will take care of the side road and driveway into our garage and the sidewalk in front of the building. The weather person on the radio said it was a very dry powder snow.
ReplyDeleteSounds perfect-I have a lot of shoveling to do-steep steps and hill to the top where the mail box is-but too cold today for me to be out there. we have lots of drifts here glad you don't have to worry about shoveling hugs
DeleteWe got stocked early... Didn't really buy much just made sure we had what we needed because we weren't getting out on the roads.. It snowed, it iced , we had sleet... but the real story is the COLD for us.. My backyard is a Winter Wonderland i so wish the girls could play on but its only 13 degrees and predicted to go down to 5 tonight... When i was a kid and lived in PA and NJ we had all the clothes to wear to go out and play in the snow... just not prepared here... Woke up Saturday morning to very low water pressure and we were like .... crap... this thing is just getting started and our pipes froze after me getting up and down all night to make sure they didn't !? Then the water stopped all together.....by then the whole neighborhood was chiming up on Facebook that they didn't have water... Come to find out... something went out at a waterstation that pumps water to the neighborhood .. Our power had fluctuated early morning SEVERAL times just long enough for me to lay in bed and chant... 'please come back on' like 8 times! ... it did but some switch at the station didn't engage so left us with out water.. they fixed it and the flow returned and we have been doing good... We just uncovered our heat unit outside as the precipitation is done for us... so when it warms up enough we can get off of the emergency heat unit.. and back to the heat pump... Stay safe and warm Kathy! Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteI was so concerned about losing the electric here as we have had very arctic temps with strong winds-but so thankful no ice here-and no more so snow last night and today-it has moved on. I have a lot of shoveling though to clear the steep steps and hill but too cold right now. glad you got water and electric back working-hugs
DeleteGlad the storm is not too bad for you. The cold can be a danger but sounds like you are prepared. Stay safe and warm over there.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Nicole Our mindset when we first got together-we love the late 1700's and early 1800's so over the 40 plus years we have been together we always lived rural-grew and raised our own foods. here at the lake not set up for a garden-would need a small greenhouse to keep the deer etc out of it. but I still cook from scratch and with good foods. and keep the house stocked-in my dna haha
DeleteI'm glad you aren't getting a ton of snow. We have about 5 inches and it will snow until tomorrow night-but the snow it very fine and light. I'm glad because I will have to do all the shoveling-my husband just had some surgery. I'll take it slow. Looking forward to spring!
ReplyDeleteMe too, I have always shoveled all the snow-Larry was born with severe arthritis and back then they didn't know how to treat it-so I have always shoveled. The wind must have moved the storm away from us we were suppose to get snow all last night and today. it is still bitter cold though.
Deletetake your time and stay safe hugs
Cocoa, a blanket, couch and fire sound pretty good right about now!
ReplyDeleteIt does! are you ready for your trip?
DeleteKathy, I love ❤️ the Charlie Brown illustration. I am in the storm zone...
ReplyDeleteMontreal.
Stay safe and warm 💙 ❤️
Good morning Linda and you as well I love snoopy and charlie brown too we are in the minus temp this morning
DeleteYes, we have a lot of snow from the weekend storm and also bitter cold temps in the single digits. Thankfully, there haven’t been any electric outages. We did our usual weekly grocery shopping last week so staying indoors is the plan. Thankfully, we have garage parking and nothing to shovel. Homemade chicken soup and bread was enjoyed yesterday while watching the snowfall.
ReplyDeleteSounds perfect-and you have a lovely view to watch the snow-it is pretty we are in the minus temps this morning thankful the electric is still on and we didn't get the extra 24 hours of snow that was predicted I might bake some cookies today hugs
DeleteI have a hot drink in my hands right now. I do enjoy the winter when we get to stay in and just enjoy a silly little snow day. I'll take it! Stay warm and happy painting to you! Cheers, Ivy.
