Good morning Tuesday,
We begin a slight warm up today and tomorrow-so I will be food shopping tomorrow. After that we are going down into into the low single digits.
Last night I grabbed the other side of the winter scene in the magazine for inspiration. I kinda like this one too but my tree trunk needs much improvement for the next try.

The other day when I was going through the Sashiko items-I found two pieces that would make into small pillows. I grabbed the indigo cloth first and stitching with white Sashiko thread. I should have started the other one first (a beige fabric using greens for the dragonflies) so my poor quality stitches would not show up so well-sigh.
This is just a simple stitch-a running stitch-but so far I can't get the stitches to be all the same size. I had taken it out so many times-that I am not going to do that anymore going forward. My eyes are not as good as before, and I went through my needles to find one that would work better for me-I did find one. I have watched videos on this and most so an entire line of stitches before pulling the thread through.
(Sorry about the poor photos-haven't decided if I want to spend a lot of money on a camera or not)
A couple weeks ago I decided on a layout for the next slow stitch bag-and have it all pinned. I use small quilt curved pins. I do not have much more of my hand dyed fabrics left-so using my stash of purchased and gifted hand dyes along with a few of my own. I used up a lot of my own hand dyes cutting out the lining for the bags.

Oh i KNOW!! Starting Friday night we are not getting above freezing til Monday... down to 9 Sunday night...with some precip predicted... brrr.... You can thank my Son in Law who complained that our Winters here were not cold enough... He misses CA and doesn't miss an opportunity to put his new home down.. lol
ReplyDeleteAre you going to build up your tree with more layers? I don't know what you mean i think the dragonflies are gorgeous!!! Stay warm girlfriend!! Hugs! deb
Good morning, No when I try a tree again like this it needs to be less wide-or perhaps more texture. that sounds pretty cold for your area. brrrr not looking forward to it-this house is pretty cold but I keep the thermostat at 72 to save money. My Mom had hers at 68 that's a bit too cold for me. and where my computer is-no heat in this room. well your son in law should like the cold temperatures you will be getting haha I love dragonflies so had forgotten about these two pieces I picked it-at the time thought it would be much easier than trying to mark a pattern on to cloth-
Deletestay warm-hugs
It's cold here too. I just want to be warm. Your art is wonderful but that roast sounds so good. Yes, perfect for a cold day.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nicole-the roast was a nice treat for sure
DeleteOh I love your painting! Please keep it up! We are super cold here too-will go on for a week or so. I'm thinking about spring!
ReplyDeleteI received your letter today-hugs same here cold all week-but tomorrow a little warm up

ReplyDeleteThank you
DeleteI love your work - especially the stitching! Cold here, too, brrrrr. Ingo played the mailman - guess! Santa has arrived, your card is here! Thank you and hugs!
ReplyDeleteWow Your Christmas card took forever-sigh I still have not received yours as of yet-the mail seems to be getting back to normal this week-we have an arctic blast of winter coming in this weekend-stay warm-hugs
DeleteAll projects looking good. Snowing here right now with the cold temps coming in on Friday. It will be brutal. UGH Janice
ReplyDeleteWe have that brutal weather coming in too over the weekend-in the minus actual temperature-we are on the edge of snow and ice-getting lots or perhaps none. stay warm and safe hugs
DeleteBeautiful painting and Snoopy made me smile - love it 😊. Sending happy wishes your way! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteGood morning Jo, I love Snoopy too-so glad for your visit-hugs
DeleteOoops, sorry. I love your Sashiko stitches, white on blue is perfect. So many pins, how can you do that many? It’s really going to be pretty. Your painting is also coming along nicely! I do agree the tree is overly healthy, go for a bit leaner next time. 😵💫 Eyes can be an issue too, there is too much white surrounding all-of us these days!!
ReplyDeleteHi Barbara, some of the edges next to each are not overlapped a lot- the pins keep everything secure-and then as I hand stitch-I start in the center of the piece-I take out the pins as I sew.
Deletesurprised no snow or ice here as of yet this winter-that could change over the weekend stay warm and safe-hugs
It's crazy cold and going to get colder in my area. It looks like you have some great ways to fill your time though. Your painting is looking great, and I especially like your dragonflies. That looks like it is going to be gorgeous, and the white stitching against the blue is beautiful. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteWe will get that arctic blast as well over the weekend-in the minus temps-ugh will pray we do not lose our electric. The white stitches on blue is the traditional Sashiko-I really love it too thanks
