Good morning-Early
I am back to waking up in the middle of the night again and brrrr it is so cold again the last few days-we are 7 degrees F in the middle of the night right now. When I wake up too early and can't sleep I go on jigsaw planet and work on puzzles for awhile. My computer room has no heat vents installed-this lake house has so many issues like this-so I wear a coat haha.
Yesterday I baked us an apple crisp-the apples needed to be used up. I did not have quite enough so I opened up a can of apple pie filling-no sugar added and that worked out so well. May just do that again I also made chili and baked up cornbread.
I did call the dentist for an antibiotic and he sent it in-the next warm up is Sunday and mostly Monday so I should be able to get my car dug out so I can drive in to pick it up. My Mountainier is a 1999 so I won't drive it in bitter cold temperatures.
I am so ready for the Winter Olympics starting soon. They are in Italy this time. The winter games are my favorites. I plan on lots of slow stitching with the games on. Do you like to watch the Olympic games? I never liked playing any sports-except maybe badminton when I was a kid but I always have enjoyed watching sports.

DeleteIt's super cold here too. I wear a winter hat in the house, but I haven't needed to wear a coat yet. Your room sounds freezing. And I bet it is at those temperatures. Stay warm. Hopefully February will be a warmer month for everyone. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteGood morning, yes this room is freezing-I think this room may have been part of a porch to the side of the house as it has a sliding glass window door as well from the kitchen. this is sort of a catch all room-as the room for my craft space is small so I have a wall of shelves for cookbooks etc, my computer desk, small weaving loom, ironing board and more in here haha yes this is really cold and this house has very poor insulation-our woods house was so warm as we added tons of insulation. You all stay warm too hugs
DeleteIt was 11 here this morning when I ventured out to the grocery store. Am over the cold. Would rather have snow at this point...at least it would warm up then. I saw that Lindsey Vonn was airlifted out. So sad. Janice
ReplyDeleteYes I saw that too about Linsey Graham Hoping she did not re injure something-she would have made records at the Olympics this time as the oldest competing in her sport.
Deletewe are still 5 degrees here at 8:10 am I am so done with these arctic temps-this house is sooo cold I can see why the previous owners never lived here in the winter months. I need to pick up an antibiotic but too cold today for me and my old car haha Yes snow does warm up things-wondering if we will have a very hot summer too
The apple crisp idea with the pie filling is a great idea. I will remember that one. Stay warm and get some rest.

DeleteBrrr..... 7! no thank you... I usually don't wake up in the middle of the night but i do have hard time getting to sleep... hubby calls me a night owl.. thankfully everything is heated here... some rooms warmer than others though.. I LOVE the Olympics Summer or Winter and watch as much of it as i can... I i did love sports as a kid ... was on the high school basketball team (mostly a benchwarmer) i didn't say i was any good at it..lol Often played football with the neighborhood kids... was a jogger/runner for a while.. Apple crisp is hubby's favorite! I try to make it once a year around the Holidays... Short Story... When i was first married i was not an experienced cook... lol .... and when i made apple crisp.... all the apples turned black! or you might call it grey... tasted good but the color... Now i think that was because of the cheap aluminum pan i used... ?! I will remember the pie filling trick... I'll bet that added something something to it.. Stay warm my friend... ReplyDeleteI was always pretty shy growing up= only sport I liked was track-I just remembered that and I was good at it. I always bake the apple crisp in one of my cast iron pans yes aluminum may have done that. I did like the apple pie filling-the one with no sugar-added to the apples. Awesome-about your Valentine's Day cards- the post office messed up my Christmas cards so badly I am leary about sending more cards. last week friends were still getting their cards-that's craziness haha Glad you have warmed up it is around 11:30 am here and it's 16 degrees F Staying cold today-but the sun is out so that's good

Kathy I think we are sharing the same weather today...it was 16 degrees below zero here. A heat wave is coming...it may make it to 10 this afternoon (LOL). I smiled when I read your comment about sports...like you badminton was the only one I enjoyed. I have been doing jig saw puzzles this month. Have never done one on the computer...will have to try doing this when I get my physical one finished. There is nothing like apple crisp...one of my favorite dishes. I really like jigsaw planet-I have heard of others online but for me this one is really good-so many choices too even the background color can be changed while working on it so many topics to choose from and you can turn your own photos into puzzles too I do a lot of snoopy puzzles

Baking and cooking in this cold weather is one of the best things to do.
ReplyDeleteMy cake today was made with gooseberries from a jar, and on top I made a quark mixture with eggs and sour cream… it was delicious.
I'm also really looking forward to the Olympic Games and I've been to Cortina in winter before.
I love watching the different sports at the Olympic Games – and I like the Summer Games just as much as the Winter Games.
I'm fascinated by the tradition; in Greece, I saw the Olympic flame in Thessaloniki before the Summer Olympics in London… it's amazing. Are you familiar with the relay of the Olympic flame from Mount Olympus in Greece?
