Good Evening Friends,
We did get a bit of a warm up so the snow is mostly melted, and our furnace is fixed. Happy dancing about that.
After my shower I wanted to make sure my hair was dry before I hit the bed-so played with watercolors and ink.
What popped into my head was a Christmas tree lot. I didn't get the right green mixed up but this one was fun.
Photos will enlarge just click on them
Sounds like a lot of wind coming in tonight Enjoy your evening
A little update to this post. Brrrrr it is soooo cold here today We are still in the low 20's F even with full sunshine. Thankfully the strong winds from last night moved on.
I played around with my painting a bit this morning while doing some laundry.
Added a little darker green to some of the trees, added tree trunks and I was playing with the little shed that did not turn out so well- so I just filled it in with the same ink which I am liking. I kinda wanted to add a tree by the shed with a little stick person-not sure about that haha
Stay warm if you have these crazy cold temperatures too

One kid i cannot convince the bees are not out to get her...lol Love LOVE your Christmas tree lot! Hugs! deb OH! and OMGosh i'm so happy to hear about your Heater! :)
ReplyDeleteWow bees at this time of year. we are very very cold here-18 degrees and it's around 9 am.
DeleteI think I will see if I can mix up a darker green-I need to learn more about the color wheel for sure. I am liking this one.
Finally we had a repairman that knew how to fix things hugs
We have not been cold enough here... warm days will bring a few out... Write down that repairmans name and number! :)
DeleteYes I did so will be asking for him if I need something again hoping not we do need to replace the a/c next year sigh
DeleteWonderful!! Your personal painting style is really developing! I’m reminded of the master Seurat and his style
ReplyDeleteof Pointillism.Jinxxxygirl’s suggestion of additional layers would be fun to try, perhaps a darker green. Loving what you are developing, Kathy!
Thank you so much I appreciate that
DeleteHurrah for a fixed furnace. And staying warm. Are you getting that cold snap that is in the middle of the country and then moving east? I'm not looking forward to that. And I love you Christmas tree farm painting. You did a great job Kathy. Hope all else is well. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteGood morning, we are soooo thankful the heater is finally working correctly we have had so many issues with this company's install from day one this is the first person that actually knew what he is doing-I gave him a really good review.
DeleteYes we have been very very cold all week-last night very windy not sure when the next warm up arrives.
thank you for my painting-I am feeling a bit better with this one hugs
Thank goodness the heater is fixed. That is sure a relief. A nice way to dry your hair, paint! This is beautiful. I love how you work the paint.

DeleteYour tree lot looks wonderful. We are going down to 13 degrees overnight. Brrr Janice
ReplyDeleteStay warm we had that last night and most of this morning. cold again tonight-hugs
DeleteJust wanted to comment on your comment on my book post. I can only listen to books when I am doing something, like making art, cooking or driving. Otherwise I fall asleep too. :) It's great you can still get brown and black from your homemade paint too.
ReplyDeleteHi Erika, oh that's a good way to listen to a book-I don't think I have anything to do that anymore now. Yes I like the homemade ink as it gets older I can still use it. I need to make some more next year
DeleteThanks for leaving a comment on my blog today, because it made me realize I hadn't added this new blog to my reader. The issue is fixed now, and I will know when there's a new post to come to.
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy-that's ok it took a bit to get this blog set up and working so far so good thankfully-stay warm I see a bit of a warm up coming in soon
DeleteI loooooooooove the trees, Kathy!
ReplyDeleteGood morning thank you so much
Delete❤️
DeleteThis is sweet and nostalgic! Excellent trees!
ReplyDeleteGood evening, thank you Debra
DeleteYour trees look lovely. Did you make your own paints? That is amazing!
ReplyDeleteNo not the paints-though I follow a lady that does and bought her book so want to try that next year. I have made several inks though. The brown building is from that ink in the photo
DeleteI admire those who can paint, draw and sketch. A skill that has escaped me no matter how hard I try.
ReplyDeleteI just started trying to paint again-it's fun so I keep trying-I am better with the fiber arts-weaving sewing etc
DeleteI haven't picked up a brush or anything in a couple of weeks so busy baking. Good for you to paint I love it.
ReplyDeleteGlad your furnace is fixed we have been crazy cold the weekend we got to 30 but back into the deep freeze tomorrow.
Cathy
We had a couple days that warmed up into the 30's but today was back to very cold and windy. we go into the 20's most nights.
DeleteYou are really a good painter-I just started again. I need to start baking us some things this week too. I am so glad our furnace is working too
stay warm
What a great sketching idea...a Christmas Tree Lot with the signs. Wonderful job and looks like great fun. Our snow was melting some yesterday too but had just a small skiff overnight. Looking like this cold weather may be here to stay for a while. Stay warm and have a delightful day.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Debbie, we have a break in the cold tomorrow and then back to super cold again. good week to do some baking. Thank you I am enjoying painting again-for fun mostly enjoy your day hugs
DeleteThe trees look really nice! Wish we had some snow here...just bloody rain.
